Not the message I wanted to see form Kinja. Apparently, the network here at the office is not letting this pass through anymore.

URLs and uploads, both. Same message. Different browsers, different machines. It’s the network. :(

I can’t post any images unless I’m at home. Please send your thoughts and prayers during these tough times.

I was having issues earlier when it would just keep loading and loading. May not be just you.

There’s a workaround that sometimes work. Paste it as a Link, instead of an Image. The downside of this is that it doesn’t get cached into the Gawker CDN, so some images with hotlinking protection might break.

Same result.

I can paste a URL, but instead of embedding, it throws the same failure message as if I tried to upload (via drag&drop or using the browse feature from the edit tools) an image.

I grabbed my take-home machine that I post from all the time at home, and it also fails. Something on the network is preventing this. It’s odd that the URL.jpg function is failing too - makes me wonder how that works. How can hotlinking from website to kinja be blocked on my network?

No no, as in actually using the hotlink button. If you just paste the URL it tries to cache it, that’s what’s failing (likely your network is blocking an outbound HTTP connection to the Gawker CDN). Click the Aa (to display formatting box), then click the chain link icon.

The chain linke icon (link/unlink) only allows me to do this.

Did you mean the “insert image” box?

No. The link icon. Forgot to mention, paste it as the Title, leave URL blank. Ignore any warnings about adding http, just click Cancel.

You’ll see the JPG link being added, but when you publish it’ll parse the image. Difference now is it’s pulled directly from the source.

Well shit, would you look at that. I still can’t upload, but at least I can post URLs Thanks!
